Description
Lost Lagoon (w/The Hipster and the Cat)
Director:
Rob Leickner
Programmed by:
Bobby Del Rio
Synopsis:
A Korean girl starts to learn English in Canada - and her journey leads her through a path of megalomaniac school administrators, crazy boyfriends, new friendships and old sibling rivalries.
Film Analysis:
Lost Lagoon is sort of like a bizarro version of Lost in Translation. Instead of an American girl stuck by herself in Japan, it's a Korean girl stuck by herself in Canada. Some of the dialogue is absolutely hilarious, and there are definitely some Wes Anderson-like moments here - where the comedy is slightly obtuse but cleverly spun out of situational humour. This film is the product of a true auteur's vision, and that's a positive thing. If you can forgive an unconventional structure and a slow burn to some of its dramatic action, this is truly a little gem of a film...
Director Bio:
Rob Leickner had his start in the entertainment business through The Hive recording studio where he saw this bedroom studio grow into a 3,000 square foot complex. After achieving success in that medium he immersed himself in cinema: his lifelong passion. Since 2007, Leickner has produced and directed three feature films. His most recent effort is Lost Lagoon.
